Aberdeen home rented by soldiers destroyed by fire, GoFundMe started

UPDATE: A GoFundMe has been set up for the four soldiers that were victims to a house fire on Sunday, one of whom is currently deployed. According to the GoFundMe, they soldiers lost everything in the fire including awards, clothing, work gear, and more. The girlfriend of one of the soldiers set up the fund raiser to help the men get through this difficult time, and to be able to replace some of their lost items.

A house was gutted by fire on Sunday afternoon in an Aberdeen neighborhood. Fire crews were dispatched to Camberly Lane around 1 p.m.

The first responding units reported over the radio they could see heavy black smoke before arriving to the scene, and once they arrived, flames visible from the back side of the house. Fire engines from several station within Moore County were dispatched to help put out the blaze.

In drone video captured by Moore County News, the back of the house and attic were heavily damaged by the fire, and the rest of the home had some kind of fire, smoke, and water damage. It was reported that the fire started at the back deck and worked its way to the house.

Even after an hour of fighting the flames, firefighters will still spraying water onto the structure.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the occupants that lived in the home. There were no injuries or loss of life in the fire.
