Sanford golf course operating with half golf cart fleet after lightning strike

A golf course in Sanford is operating with just half of it’s golf cart fleet after a lightning strike that happened the Sunday night.

Sanford Municipal Golf Course typically uses all 51 of its golf carts. However, the lightning strike damaged 25 golf their carts, temporarily putting them out of commission.

The club wants golfers to know those with late-morning tee times will likely not have access to a cart.

“We have enough carts to provide one to those with early tee times,” says course manager David Von Canon. “We will clean the operating carts and get them back out for golfers as quickly as we can,” he says.

Repairs are expected to take place this week, and Von Canon says all carts should be back in operation by the weekend.
