The suspect wanted in connection with a Saturday morning double homicide in the Woodlake community has been caught and arrested in Ohio, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies originally responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Daphne Lane around 7:45 a.m. When they arrived, investigators said they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were 28 and 21 years old. Their names have not been released.

Investigators said the suspect fled the area before law enforcement arrived. Deputies canvassed Woodlake and surrounding areas during the morning hours, while the Woodlake Property Owners Association urged residents to “refrain from walking outside” as the search unfolded.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office identified Caleb Hayden Fosnaugh, 25, of Ohio, as a suspect in the case and obtained warrants charging him with breaking and entering and two counts of murder.

Authorities had warned the public Fosnaugh should be considered armed and dangerous and said he was believed to be driving a white 2018 Ford Mustang with a black front driver-side fender that may have been displaying an Ohio license plate.

Investigators said early on they did not believe Fosnaugh remained in Moore County after the shooting. The sheriff’s office has now confirmed he has been located and arrested in Coshocton, Ohio.

“This is a tragic and senseless loss of life,” Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims during this difficult time. We are grateful for the swift coordination and assistance from our law enforcement partners in bringing this individual into custody.”

Fields also expressed appreciation to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for their coordination and assistance throughout the day in ensuring Fosnaugh was successfully apprehended.

Additional details about the shooting and Fosnaugh’s arrest have not been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
