Two juveniles injured in shooting at Brookside Park Apartments in Southern Pines

Two juveniles were injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon at the Brookside Park Apartment community in Southern Pines.

According to the Southern Pines Police Department, officers responded around 12:17 p.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Richards Street after reports of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

When officers arrived, they found two male victims inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Authorities said both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by Moore County EMS to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for treatment.

Southern Pines police later confirmed to Moore County News that both victims were juveniles, but did not release their exact ages.

Investigators spent Thursday afternoon processing the scene and collecting evidence as the investigation continued. The scene was cleared shortly after 2 p.m.

Police said there is no known ongoing threat to the community related to the incident.
