Cement truck overturns in Woodlake community

Published on

A cement truck overturned Friday afternoon in the Woodlake community near Vass, creating a major cleanup but leaving the driver unharmed.

The crash happened before 1 p.m. at a bridge on Loblolly Drive near Azalea Drive. Officials told Moore County News the driver was not injured, though the truck was fully loaded with materials.

Investigators said the driver reported hitting a speed bump, which caused him to lose control. He told officials he overcorrected, and the truck flipped onto its side after going off the roadway.

Firefighters said they were working under hazmat protocols to contain any possible leaks, but officials stressed there is no danger to public health. Crews remained on site into the afternoon as the cleanup continued.
