One taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash on Morganton Road

A two-vehicle crash sent one person to the hospital and reduced Morganton Road to one lane near Country Club Drive on Saturday evening.

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. and involved a Mini Cooper and a Toyota 4Runner.

Moore County News learned at the scene that the Mini Cooper was traveling westbound on Morganton Road when the 4Runner, which was leaving Southern Pines Golf Club, pulled into the intersection and into the path of the Mini Cooper. The Mini Cooper struck the passenger side of the 4Runner.

Four people were inside the 4Runner at the time of the crash, while two people were inside the Mini Cooper.

One person from the 4Runner was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A child who was in the Mini Cooper was evaluated at the scene.

The Mini Cooper sustained damage to its front passenger side, while the 4Runner sustained damage along its passenger-side doors.

Morganton Road was reduced to one lane for about 30 minutes while emergency crews worked at the scene.
