Eastwood homeowner’s quick thinking prevents spread of kitchen fire

Published on

Firefighters from Eastwood, Pinehurst, and Carthage responded to a fire along the 300 block of Pine Hill Road on Sunday night. The first unit on scene reported flames were visible in a back window of the kitchen.

They said the fire could have spread more if it wasn’t for the homeowner’s quick thinking. As she evacuated the structure, the home owner closed the door to the room, helping to prevent the fire from getting the oxygen it needs to keep going.

Once the firefighters were on scene, they were able to knock down the fire quickly. It appeared part of a wall had to be torn down to gain access and inspected for active fire inside the walls.

No one was hurt during the incident.
