A single-vehicle crash has shut down a portion of Dowd Road after a power pole was snapped in half Sunday evening.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. near Willow Brook Drive. The first arriving emergency response unit reported the vehicle had heavy damage.

The crash also brought down power lines, leaving them across the roadway. Dowd Road is currently closed in both directions in the area.

The roadway is expected to remain closed for several hours while emergency crews work the scene and the damaged power pole and lines are addressed.

Drivers should avoid the area and use an alternate route.
