The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new four-legged officer to its ranks — and she didn’t cost taxpayers a dime.
K-9 Anna has officially joined the Patrol Division and is assigned to Deputy Donovan Williams. The specially trained dog is skilled in narcotics detection and tracking, making her a valuable asset in both drug enforcement operations and searches for missing persons or fleeing suspects.
What makes Anna’s addition even more notable is how she was funded. According to the sheriff’s office, the purchase and training of both the K-9 and her handler were made possible entirely through money seized during local drug investigations.
“It’s a good day when we can take money from local drug dealers and use it to put drug dealers out of business,” Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement. “This new K-9 is just another tool in our fight to keep Moore County safe.”
Anna will immediately begin working alongside deputies in the field, helping to further the agency’s efforts in combating crime throughout the county.
