2 dead in overnight fire in Carthage

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed two men were killed in a mobile home fire that happened over night in Carthage.

Emergency crews were called to the home in the 1400 block of Union Church Road around midnight, and when they arrived, it was engulfed in flames.

Once firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, they discovered two bodies.

Union Church Road was closed for an extended period of time. Investigators from Moore County Public Safety, the Moore County Sheriffs Office, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are still on scene as of the time of publication.
