The Aberdeen Police Department has announced the arrest of Christopher Dean Goodwin, 52, of Rockingham, in connection with drug possession and an outstanding embezzlement warrant.
According to a press release, Aberdeen officers were called to the McDonald’s parking lot on February 14 after reports of a man slumped over inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Goodwin, who was found asleep in the driver’s seat. After waking him, officers identified Goodwin and discovered he had an active warrant for embezzlement out of Richmond County.
While taking Goodwin into custody, officers conducted a search and discovered a bottle containing four small bags of a white powder-like substance in his pocket. The substance was seized and submitted to the State Crime Lab for testing.
On April 30, lab results confirmed the substance to be fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid classified as a Schedule II controlled substance. Warrants were subsequently issued for Goodwin on charges of felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Later that same day, deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Goodwin. He was taken before a magistrate and ordered held without bond due to conditions related to a previous post-release supervision violation.
