One hospitalized following three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 1

One person was transported to the hospital Monday evening following a three-vehicle crash that shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 1 just before the Midland Road exit.

The collision, which involved a semi-truck, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a Jeep Cherokee Limited, occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to authorities.

Emergency responders transported one person from the Grand Cherokee to the hospital. Three occupants of the Jeep Cherokee Limited were evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Southbound lanes of U.S. 1 were temporarily closed as crews worked to investigate and clear the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
