A local 32-year-old man was killed early Friday morning in a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Highway 24-27 at Bass Road near Cameron.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. near the SkyMart convenience store.

According to troopers, the motorcycle was traveling west on Highway 24-27 when the eastbound Ford F-150 attempted to turn left onto Bass Road, crossing into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.

CPR was administered immediately at the scene, but the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived. Authorities have not released his identity but said next of kin have been notified. The driver of the F-150 was not injured.

Troopers say the driver of the F-150 was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield right of way.

Bass Road was fully closed, and the westbound lane of Highway 24-27 was shut down for more than three hours. Firefighters used the eastbound lane to guide traffic around the scene. All roads have since reopened.
