Fire destroys storage sheds, nearby house saved

Published on

A fire spread to two storage sheds located near a house on Monroe Road outside of Carthage on Friday afternoon. According to scanner traffic, dispatchers first received a call about smoke in the area, and a deputy with the Moore County Sheriffs Department reported heavy smoke could be seen. A short time later, the call was upgraded to a fully engulfed structure fire.

Fire crews from Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue along with crews from Carthage and Whispering Pines were able to extinguish the flames quickly, and prevent it from spreading to a nearby home.

A tractor, two four-wheelers, and several other pieces of equipment were completely burned in the blaze.

The Fire Marshall was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
