Strong storms swept through Moore County late Thursday night, keeping the Carthage Fire Department busy with multiple calls related to storm damage.

Between 10:30 p.m. and midnight, firefighters responded to at least three reports of damage caused by high winds and heavy rain. The first call came in for a fallen tree blocking part of Old River Road near Torchwood Road. Soon after, another report indicated a low-hanging tree over Torchwood Road, creating a potential hazard for drivers.

Just before midnight, the department was dispatched to a more serious situation along Highway 24-27 at Promise Lane. A power line was reported arcing in a tree, and responders discovered the pole supporting the line was also damaged. Crews worked with utility officials to address the issue and ensure the area was safe.

No injuries were reported during the incidents, and fire officials remind residents to remain cautious around downed trees and power lines following severe weather.
