An arrest has been made in connection with last week’s shooting at the Woodlawn Apartments in Aberdeen that left a Pinebluff man critically injured.
According to court documents, 43-year-old Raheem Mahad Ewing was arrested Aug. 10 and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Ewing was given no bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 26, according to court documents.
The charges follow an Aug. 5 shooting at the Woodlawn Apartments along the 700 block of Magnolia Drive. Aberdeen Police said officers found 39-year-old Oscar Lorenzo Hammond, of Pinebluff, suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder areas. Hammond was airlifted to a medical facility with life-threatening injuries and was later reported to be in stable but critical condition.
Following the shooting, police identified Ewing as a person of interest and said he fled the scene before officers arrived. Police previously described the shooting as an isolated incident involving two people who knew one another and said it was not a random act.
Ewing is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
