A Pinebluff man remains in critical condition after being shot Wednesday night at the Woodlawn Apartments in Aberdeen, while law enforcement continues searching for a person of interest in the case.
The shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. Aug. 5 in the area of the apartment complex along the 700 block of Magnolia Drive.
According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers arrived and found 39-year-old Oscar Lorenzo Hammond, of Pinebluff, suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder areas.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived and took over his care. Hammond was later airlifted to a medical facility for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Police said Thursday that Hammond remains hospitalized. His condition is stable but continues to be critical.
Police have identified 43-year-old Raheem Mahad Ewing, of Aberdeen, as a person of interest in the case. According to police, Ewing fled the scene before officers arrived.
Aberdeen investigators, along with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation, are actively searching for Ewing as the investigation continues.
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident involving two people who knew one another and was not a random act.
