A single-vehicle crash along U.S. 1 northbound near Aiken Road left a Hyundai Santa Fe heavily damaged Sunday evening, but no injuries were reported.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. when the Santa Fe left the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Heavy rain was falling in the area around the time of the crash, creating wet roadway conditions that may have contributed to the incident.
The impact caused a section of the guardrail to penetrate the vehicle near the front driver’s-side wheel and extend into the passenger compartment alongside the driver’s seat.
Despite the significant damage to the vehicle, no injuries were reported.
One northbound lane of U.S. 1 was closed while first responders worked at the scene.
The exact cause of the crash was not immediately available.
