According to authorities, the driver was unconscious after the crash, and a landing zone was set up on Derby Road. His condition was unknown at the time of this article.

Jackson Springs Road was closed between Hotel Street and Richardson Lane while emergency crews were on the scene.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. They say the driver was traveling towards Foxfire on Jackson Springs road at a high rate of speed. The young driver lost control of his Dodge RAM on a curve, almost colliding with another vehicle. He then over-corrected, spun out, went down an embankment and collided with a tree. The impact caused heavy damage to the passenger side of the RAM pick-up truck.

The driver of the vehicle that was almost hit saw the crash, turned around, and went to help the young driver. Another passerby also stopped to help free the driver of the RAM.
