One person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Sunday night at the intersection of N.C. Highway 24-27 and Stage Road near Carthage.

The crash occurred just before 9:15 p.m. and involved a Hyundai Tucson and a Nissan Versa.

Troopers told Moore County News at the scene that the crash occurred when the Nissan Versa, traveling on Stage Road, failed to yield to the Hyundai Tucson, which was traveling along Highway 24/27. The resulting collision was a T-bone crash.

According to officials, the driver of the Nissan Versa was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries was not immediately available.

Both vehicles had only one occupant. The Hyundai Tucson’s driver was accompanied by a dog. Officials said neither the driver nor the dog suffered serious injuries.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to clear the roadway. Traffic along Highway 24/27 was diverted around the crash scene while first responders investigated and removed the damaged vehicles.
