A Harris Teeter grocery store in Whispering Pines was evacuated Saturday after a Freon leak was reported in the back of the building, prompting a large response from fire departments across Moore County.
The leak was reported near the store’s loading dock, where firefighters continue working to contain the situation and ensure the building is safe.
The Harris Teeter remains closed as emergency crews monitor the area and work to address the leak. There is currently no estimate for when the store will be allowed to reopen.
Multiple fire departments from across Moore County remain on scene assisting with the response. No injuries have been reported.
Officials have not released information on what caused the leak, and it is unclear how long crews will remain at the store.
