Authorities are investigating a double homicide after two men were found shot to death late Sunday night at a home in Aberdeen.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Gaines Street, in the Jackson Hamlet community just south of Pinehurst. Deputies arriving on scene located two male victims on the front porch of the home. Both had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene.

MCSO Chief Deputy Andy Conway said a person of interest has been identified in connection with the shooting. Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities said the incident does not appear to be random and that the individual involved is believed to have been known to the victims

Investigators remained on scene for more than six hours with the area secured by police tape as the investigation continued into the overnight hours. Additional details are expected to be released later Monday.
