A Southern Pines business is working to get the smell of smoke out of its store after a trash can caught fire.

First responders were sent to Golf Augusta on Tuesday afternoon. When they arrived, smoke was coming out of the business, however the fire had already been extinguished. Firefighters from Southern Pines used fans to vent smoke out of the golf shop located on U.S. Highway 1.

Luckily, the flames were contained to the trash can and did not spread to other areas of the business.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
