A truck carrying a full tank of propane has overturned along Linden Road causing a leak. Complicating the situation, power lines are down around the truck.
The crash happened along the 2300 block of Linden Road near Burning Tree Road around 9:45 a.m.
A special hazmat team from Fayetteville was called in to assist with the situation.
At 2:30 p.m., officials began the burn-off process to empty the remaining propane from the truck’s tank. Flames shot approximately 75 feet into the air from two discharge pipes. Crews informed Moore County News that this process could take up to eight hours.

Emergency crews have closed Linden Road between Highway 5 and Burning Tree Road for at least the remainder of the night.
Two houses were evacuated at the time of the crash, while others near the crash were asked to shelter inside.

A homeowner that lives by the crash scene told Moore County News the driver of the propane truck was unable to get out of the truck after the crash, and that his neighbor was able to free the driver. The driver was flown to a trauma center from a landing zone set up near the crash site.
