Pinebluff Police continue crackdown on unsafe driving

Published on

Drivers on U.S. Highway 1 may have noticed a strong police presence on Wednesday, July 31. That was part of a planned saturation patrol hosted by the Pinebluff Police Department to improve roadway safety.

The event was part of the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program and brought together officers from multiple law enforcement agencies across Moore County. The Department of Health and Human Services also participated by bringing out its mobile breath-alcohol testing unit, known as the BAT Mobile.

Throughout the patrol, officers issued nearly 30 citations. These included violations for expired registration, driving without a license, expired inspection, speeding, seat belt violations, and illegal window tint. Officers used handheld LIDAR devices to help enforce speed limits with precision.

Despite the number of tickets written, there were no arrests, no vehicles towed, and no impaired drivers charged. Officers also did not seize any firearms or illegal property during the operation.

This patrol is part of an ongoing effort by the Pinebluff Police Department, in collaboration with other Moore County law enforcement agencies, to crack down on unsafe driving across the county.

“This type of event is all about prevention and education,” the Pinebluff Police Department said in a statement. “U.S. Highway 1 is one of the busiest roadways in Moore County and has seen its share of accidents. Our goal is to reduce crashes and save lives.”

Police are encouraging drivers to stay alert, follow traffic laws, and always wear their seat belts. They also reminded motorists that the legal blood alcohol limit in North Carolina is 0.08.

The message is simple. Drive safe. Drive sober. Or expect to get pulled over.

More traffic enforcement events like this are planned in the near future.
