Outside fire spreads to woods, endangers structures

Published on

An outdoor fire on Edgewood Terrace Drive in West End quickly spread to nearby woods and endangered several structures in the area.

Crews from multiple fire departments arrived on the scene just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday. They reported the flames had reach a storage building on a neighboring property. Fire fighters were able to act quickly and prevent significant damage to the building. A vehicle and mobile home were also at risk of catching fire during the incident before crews were able to prevent the spread of the flames. Foam was used to smother the fire to prevent it from reigniting.

Moore County is under a high fire danger level, which means unattended burning has a high chance of spreading. Officials say if you must burn outside, make sure you are constantly observing the fire, and that flames are fully extinguished before leaving the area.

West End Fire & Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire Department, and Pinehurst Fire & Rescue all responded to the scene.
