A two-vehicle crash Wednesday on U.S. Highway 15-501 caused significant traffic backups and sent one person to the hospital.

The wreck happened just north of the Highway 73 intersection in the Eastwood community and involved a Ford Maverick pickup truck and a Nissan Cube. According to a state trooper at the scene, the driver of the Cube going northbound had slowed down when it was struck from behind by the Maverick.

The crash caused 15-501 to be reduced to a single lane, causing major delays for traffic in the area.

The driver of the Nissan Cube was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. The driver of the Maverick was not injured.
