The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has named three-time Grammy Award-winning artist and philanthropist Darius Rucker as an official ambassador for the Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF), marking a major milestone in the organization’s efforts to expand access to golf across North and South Carolina.

Rucker, an avid golfer and part-time Pinehurst resident, will lend his voice and platform to support the Foundation’s mission to grow the game and promote inclusivity—particularly among youth, individuals with disabilities, and underserved communities.

“I’m honored to be part of something that’s making a real difference through the game I love,” Rucker said. “Golf has been a huge part of my life—not just because I love to play, but because I’ve seen the way it brings people together and creates opportunities.”

As ambassador, Rucker will participate in key events, awareness campaigns, and fundraising initiatives, helping the Foundation broaden its reach and deepen its community impact. His appointment adds star power to an organization that has already awarded more than $3.3 million in grants since its founding in 1977.

Rucker’s commitment to philanthropy is well-established. He created the annual “Darius & Friends” concert and golf tournament benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and supports a range of causes including public education, health care, and veterans’ programs.

“Having Darius Rucker join the Carolinas Golf Foundation is a transformative moment for us,” said CGA Executive Director Andy Priest. “Darius is not only a cultural icon but also a passionate advocate for the game. His influence and authenticity will help us expand our reach, deepen our impact, and inspire new audiences to embrace golf as a force for positive change.”

The CGF supports a wide range of programs—from junior golf scholarships and First Tee partnerships to adaptive golf clinics and turfgrass research—all designed to make golf more accessible and impactful throughout the Carolinas.

Rucker’s involvement is expected to boost the Foundation’s visibility and draw in new supporters from across the region and beyond.

“He embodies the spirit of the Carolinas and the values we’re working to promote—access, opportunity, and a love for the game that lasts a lifetime,” Priest said.
