A late-night fire broke out at a home on Rembert Court in Seven Lakes West on Wednesday, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m., with early dispatch information indicating a mattress on the lower level of the home had caught fire. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames confined to the downstairs area.
Two adults and four children were inside the home at the time of the fire. All six evacuated safely without injury, according to first responders on scene.
A Moore County Sheriff’s Deputy was credited with rescuing a cat from the home during the incident.
The fire caused extensive smoke and water damage to the lower level of the house, though firefighters were able to contain the damage to the interior of the structure.
The cause of the fire was under investigation at the time of publication.
