A pickup truck crashed into the woods along Highway 690 Friday afternoon, leaving the vehicle heavily damaged but, fortunately, the driver walked away without serious injuries.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection with McGill Road, just outside of Vass. According to authorities, a Toyota Tacoma was traveling toward Vass when the driver lost control in a curve, ran off the road, and struck a tree. The impact caused the truck to spin and come to rest on its side.

Emergency crews arrived to find the driver, who was the only occupant, walking around the scene. Despite not appearing to be seriously hurt, he was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Highway 690 was temporarily closed while first responders worked to clear the scene.
