Dump truck leaves scene after knocking down power pole, closing Glendon Carthage Road

Published on

Glendon Carthage Road is expected to remain closed for several hours after a dump truck struck overhead power lines, bringing down a utility pole and leaving live power lines across the roadway.

The closure is affecting Glendon Carthage Road near Brady Road, where traffic is blocked in both directions. Drivers should avoid the area and plan to use an alternate route.

According to information from the scene, a dump truck clipped the overhead lines, causing a power pole to fall. The truck left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

The downed power lines also sparked a small grass fire, which has since been contained.

Utility crews are on scene working to replace the damaged pole and remove the lines from the roadway. The power company says repairs could take until late this afternoon, and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours while crews work safely.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the road reopens. MCN will provide updates as more information becomes available.
