Two Greensboro men have been charged in connection with a burglary at an Aberdeen smoke shop last year where investigators say more than $9,000 worth of cigarette cartons were stolen.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers responded to NC Smoke and Vape on Oct. 3, 2025, after receiving a report that a window had been removed from the business and merchandise had been stolen.

Investigators determined that more than $9,000 worth of cigarette cartons had been taken during the break-in. Detectives reviewed surveillance video, processed evidence at the scene, and continued following investigative leads over the following months.

During the investigation, detectives learned that several law enforcement agencies had reported similar crimes involving the same suspects. Those agencies included the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Greensboro Police Department, Holly Springs Police Department, and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said investigators were able to identify the suspects through intelligence sharing, technological investigative techniques, and ongoing collaboration with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 3, 2026, Aberdeen investigators obtained arrest warrants for Beroy Reid Jr., 52, of Greensboro, charging him with:

  • Felony aiding and abetting
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Felony possession of stolen goods

Investigators also obtained warrants for Bobby Ray Williams Jr., 45, of Greensboro, charging him with:

  • Felony breaking and entering
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Felony possession of stolen goods

According to police, Reid was located in the Lee County Jail and served with the warrants by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Williams was located in the Rockingham County Jail and served by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men were held without bond because they are facing multiple charges from other law enforcement agencies, police said.

The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
