A mother and her four children made it out safely after a fire broke out in their Aberdeen home late Wednesday night.

The blaze started around 11 p.m. in the 1700 block of Crest Drive, according to officials with Aberdeen Fire Department. Crews from other departments across southern Moore County rushed to the scene.

A neighbor first spotted the fire, alerted the family inside and called 911, officials said. The family was able to get out before firefighters arrived.

A vehicle parked under a carport was completely destroyed, and the house sustained heavy damage. The attic was burned, and smoke and water damage spread throughout the home.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
