A late-night crash in northern Moore County has authorities searching for the driver of a white Buick LeSabre that was found wrecked in the woods in Robbins.
Just after 11:45 p.m. Friday, a passer-by reported the vehicle had run off Gardenia Road and crashed into a wooded area. When first responders arrived, they found the car abandoned, with no driver or passengers in sight.
Inside the vehicle, authorities say they spotted a shotgun, some medication and an opened bottle of alcohol.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office dispatched K9 Anna to assist Highway Patrol troopers in searching the area for the missing driver. Investigators believe the car was traveling south on Gardenia Road when it failed to navigate a sharp curve, crossed the centerline, and ran off the road into the trees.
Despite an extensive search of the surrounding area, the driver was not located while crews remained on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
Authorities have not said if any charges are expected.
