Single-vehicle overturns in crash south of Cameron

Published on

A driver was hospitalized Sunday evening following a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 1 Business near the intersection of Rosa Road, just south of the Highway 24-27 overpass.

The crash occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. when a Dodge Challenger heading south veered across the center line, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to flip and severed a large limb from the tree.

First responders arrived to find the driver had managed to exit the vehicle on his own. He was transported by Moore County EMS to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately available.

Cypress Pointe Fire Department closed the northbound lane of U.S. 1 Business for approximately 30 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene and ensure the roadway was safe for traffic.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
