Three-vehicle crash slows traffic on Highway 24-27

Published on

A three-vehicle crash just before noon Wednesday caused traffic delays on Highway 24-27 at Plank Road.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, all vehicles were traveling east on Highway 24-27 when a Buick Encore stopped to turn left onto Plank Road. A Dodge Challenger came to a stop behind the Encore, but a Chevrolet flatbed truck was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the Challenger, pushing it into the back of the Encore.

The Challenger sustained heavy damage to both its front and rear, but no injuries were reported.

The crash reduced the highway to one lane while crews worked to clear the scene.
