A crash at the Monroe Street crossover to Highway 15-501 intersection closed the southbound lanes of the highway once again. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 7:30 p.m.

This intersection has been the site of several crashes, as vehicles pulling out from Monroe Street attempt to cross the southbound lane of Highway 15-501, often into the path of oncoming traffic. Carthage Police told Moore County News at the scene that the cause of Friday’s crash is consistent with previous incidents.

According to police, the driver of a Toyota sedan pulled out in front of a Nissan Titan pickup truck. The front end of the Toyota sustained heavy damage, while the Titan suffered damage to its right side and a blown tire.

No one was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the Toyota was evaluated at the scene by paramedics.
