Truck overturns on icy Highway 24-27 curve

The icy condition of roads factored into a crash on Highway 24-27 near Kelly Plantation Road on Friday.

Around 10 p.m., a deputy with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office came up on an overturned Toyota Tacoma along the highway.

According to Troopers, the driver told them the vehicle hit the ice on the roadway in the curve. The driver applied the brakes and lost control of the Tacoma. The vehicle slid off the left side of the road and overturned.

Two people were in the Tacoma at the time of the crash, and both were checked out at the scene by paramedics and refused transport to the hospital.

Highway 24-27 was reduced to one lane while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The driver was cited for improper speed for road conditions.
