A T-bone collision caused by a driver failing to stop at a stop sign happened Saturday in Jackson Springs.

First responders were dispatched to the intersection of N.C. Highway 73 and Jackson Springs Road just before 5:45 p.m.

According to investigators, the driver of a Ford SUV blew through a stop sign at the intersection. A Ford F-350 traveling on Highway 73 towards West End slammed into the back of the SUV. The SUV spun several times, ending up backwards into a wooded area. The F-350 was able to pull off to the side of the highway.

Initially, everyone involved in the crash told firefighters they were not hurt and did not need medical attention. The driver of the Ford SUV then told firefighters she had ringing in her ears and wanted to be checked out by paramedics.

The SUV’s driver was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

This was the second T-bone collision on N.C. Highway 73 near West End on Saturday afternoon. The first one occurred about an hour earlier at the intersection of Beulah Hill Church Road.
