A man was seriously injured after falling during what was described as a military training exercise in Carthage. Dispatchers sent emergency crews to Little River Resort shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

The man reportedly fell from the second floor of an abandoned building on the Little River property, and lost consciousness for a period of time. UNC Carolina Air Care was requested, and a landing zone was set up at the entrance to the resort near U.S. Highway 15-501. Carthage Police closed the entrance to the resort while Air Care was on the ground.

No details were released on what kind of training exercise was taking place at the time of the incident. Moore County News saw multiple vehicles leaving the area once the man was flown out.
