Firefighters from across the county battled a blaze in the 2000 block of Vass-Carthage Road outside of Carthage on Tuesday night.

The fire was reported around 8:45 p.m., and crews arrived to heavy flames coming from the front of the house.

Seven people lived in the home, four adults and three children. Everyone in the house was able to get out, some of them having to jump out of a window.

At least two animals were killed in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not be released as of Monday, April 22, 2024. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants, and a GoFundMe has been set up for the family: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jones-family-rebuilding-after-house-fire
