A two-story house was destroyed by fire on Lasswade Drive in the Pinewild community of Pinehurst. The call went out right at 8:30 p.m., and heavy black smoke could be seen for miles. When fire fighters arrived, flames were shooting about 100 feet into the air.

Multiple fire agencies from around Moore County were involved with trying to extinguish the blaze including Pinehurst, Eastwood, Aberdeen and Seven Lakes.

According to Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, the homeowners were home at the time of the blaze. They say one of the homeowners walked out of their front door to see their garage was fully engulfed in flames. The two occupants were able to leave the house with their pet dog to safety.

Pinehurst Police blocked off Lasswade Drive near the scene.

Moore County News has reached out to fire investigators about a cause, and we were told while the cause is still under investigation, they can confirm that it was not started by a vehicle, as no vehicle was in the garage at the time of the fire. Investigators also say the fire does not look suspicious in nature.
