A woman was struck by a vehicle on Monroe Street near McDonald’s in Carthage and was airlifted to a trauma center on Thursday night.

Authorities at the scene told Moore County News that the woman, wearing black clothing, was dropped off at the Dollar General and was attempting to cross the road when she was hit. They say the woman was alert at the scene. A landing zone was set up at Memorial Park near Hardee’s to airlift the female to a hospital.

The woman’s condition was not released, and Carthage Police are still currently investigating the crash. The road was shut down for around an hour while emergency crews were working the scene.
