A single vehicle crash on Youngs Road near Vass took the life of a Union Pines High School student on Tuesday.

The N.C. Highway Patrol has confirmed that Ryan Christopher Tracy, 19, of Southern Pines, was the person killed in the crash that happened around 8 a.m.

Investigators say Tracy was driving a Honda Civic at a high rate of speed, lost control in the curve, going off the road. The vehicle flipped multiple times, and collided with a tree while partially flipped, crushing the roof of the Civic.

Tracy was ejected from the impact, and ended up approximately 30 feet from the vehicle in a heavy tree line. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers have notified the family, and Union Pines High School of the death.

Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue were on the scene to provide assistance during the crash investigation and clean up. Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Moore County EMS also responded to the scene.
