A Ford F-150 ended up on its passenger side in a ditch after the driver pulled on the shoulder of the road for a first responder heading to an emergency.
A mother was traveling down Highway 73 near Jackson Springs with her kids, when a first responder with lights activated approached her from behind. The mother pulled to the side of the road to allow the first responder to pass, not realizing there was a steep ditch.

The first responder was headed to another crash on Mill Road. The first responder saw the F-150 tip into the ditch after they passed by, and turned around to check on the occupants of the F-150. Fire units from Eagle Springs, Seven Lakes, and West End responded to the initial call on Mill Road. The West End units going to Mill Road were cancelled shortly after and then headed to the location of the tipped F-150.
The mother and her kids were shaken up, and were evaluated by Moore County EMS at the scene.
The crash on Mill Road was near the intersection with Flowers Road. A Chevy pick-up truck ran into the back of a car that had slowed down for deer crossing the road. One person, a passenger in the car, was transported to the hospital with neck pains.
