A Toyota Tacoma collided with a downed tree along Glendon-Carthage Road near Old River Road on Monday night, temporarily shutting down the roadway.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. as the northbound Tacoma struck a large tree that had fallen across both lanes. The driver told authorities he did not see the tree on the dark stretch of road.

Heavy rainfall in recent days contributed to the tree’s fall, according to emergency personnel.

Neither the driver nor his dog was injured in the crash.

Crews from the Carthage Fire Department responded to the scene and used chainsaws to cut up the tree and remove it from the roadway. Glendon-Carthage Road was closed for more than 30 minutes while the debris was cleared.
