Troopers: Driver admits to texting and drinking before wild crash

Published on

A driver is facing multiple charges after a single-vehicle crash Thursday night near the Woodlake community.

It happened on McLauchlin Road at Murdock C Road. Troopers said the driver allegedly admitted to texting and driving just before the crash and also to having drinks prior to getting behind the wheel.

Investigators said the vehicle went into a curve, ran off the left side of the road, went down an embankment, through a fence and into a wooded area. The car hit several trees, rolled several times and came to rest on its roof.

Despite the violent crash, the driver was not seriously hurt. Troopers arrested him at the scene, and he will be facing multiple charges, including driving while impaired.

McLauchlin Road was reduced to one lane while crews worked to clear the area.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
