Three different lines came down from power poles across the county within an hour of each other on Friday afternoon.

The first call came in just before 5 p.m. as a possible hit and run vehicle crash in the 200 block of North Gaines Street in Southern Pines. The Southern Pines Fire Department arrived to the scene of lines across the road and a leaning power pole. The lines were not electrical lines, and posed no danger. The SPFD removed the lines from the road way and marked the lines with caution tape.

The second call came in around 5:20 p.m. as a report of a line across Lost Tree Road near McKenzie Road West in Pinehurst. The Pinehurst Fire Department quickly responded and determined the line was not electrical in nature. The road was not closed since the line did not pose any danger. Authorities were unable to determine how the line came down.

Shortly after the call in Pinehurst, a third call of a line down on Barber Road near Hill Road in Southern Pines was dispatched. This line was not completely touching the ground, but was hanging low over the roadway. Southern Pines Fire marked the line with yellow caution tape. Authorities were unable to determine how the line came down.

Duke Energy and Spectrum were notified of all three cases of lines being down.
