T-bone collision sends 3 to hospital

UPDATE: The driver of the Jetta, 17-year-old Brycen Mabe, passed away from his injuries on Monday, June 10, 2024.

A major crash on in Southern Pines sent three people to the hospital.

Southern Pines Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of Fairway Drive and Central around 10 p.m. When they arrived, two occupants of a Volkswagen Jetta were entrapped in the vehicle. Crews were able to free the occupants by cutting the driver’s side doors. All three occupants of the Jetta were transported to the hospital, two of them with serious injuries.

Southern Pines Police tells Moore County News that the Jetta was traveling on Fairway Drive when it pulled out in front of a Chevy Malibu traveling on Central Drive.

The driver of the Malibu was not injured in the crash.
