Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash that happened just before midnight on N.C. Highway 690 outside of Vass.

First responders were dispatched to the scene near Fairley Lane, and arrived to a heavily damaged BMW off the roadway. In a Facebook post, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue said when they arrived, they found one of the victims was thrown from the car, and the other was still in the vehicle.

A landing zone was set up for two helicopters at the baseball field in Vass, and the two occupants of the BMW were flown to a trauma center by UNC Carolina Air Care and AirLife North Carolina.

N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
